Duras Castle , which is less than three kilometers from the cabins, offers breakfast and appetizer baskets especially for Slow Cabins guests. Countess Gabrielle de Liedekerke always makes a selection of local and organic seasonal products. Enjoy the taste of freshly baked bread, artisanal jam, fresh fruit and many other goodies. A wonderful start to a relaxing day in nature. All packaging used is reused or recycled according to the zero-waste principle.

APERITIF BASKETS

Do you also like to enjoy a snack and a drink by the fire? Then you can choose from two of the tastiest wines from Gloire de Duras, a wine estate not far from the castle. The aperitif basket, filled with an assortment of nuts and your favorite Riesling or Chardonnay wine, is delivered to your cabin.

Exactly two weeks before your stay you will receive a brochure with all the information about how you can order your breakfast and aperitif.

Walk and cycle among the Limburg blossoms

They are wonderfully beautiful, the Limburg blossoms. Together with kilometers of vast meadows, orchards and forests, they form the ideal cycling and walking paradise in the spring. After a wholesome breakfast, put on your walking shoes or hop on your bike to explore the area. There is a surprise behind every corner.

Even in summer, the fruit region is a spectacle of colors and scents. The cherries are ready for picking from July. The apples and pears ripen a little longer, until the end of August. Not much later, the winegrowers also start working in their vineyards, which are numerous in this beautiful part of Limburg. Not only walkers and cyclists, but also bon vivants and those seeking peace and quiet will find satisfaction here.

The Hageland does not disappoint in the autumn and winter either. The fruit trees are in hibernation, but the vast nature and its winter serenity continue to amaze. Nothing beats warming up by the stove in your cabin after a brisk winter walk in nature.

Provincial domain Het Vinne

Walking, picnicking and unique bird watching. In the nearby provincial domain you can get lost for hours in the local fauna and flora. Water and migratory birds settle on the largest natural inland lake in Flanders. There are many lookout towers and bird hides to spot them, but you can also enjoy the surroundings from the boardwalks.

Wine estates

The Hageland is home to many wine estates, including Gloire de Duras, the vineyard of Peter Nijskens and his family. Let your senses be stimulated by the fairytale vineyard and taste the local wines that this domain has to offer. Duras Castle

The majestic castle of Duras is indispensable in the Hageland. The Count and Countess de Liederkerke offer tours, visits and activities in and around their castle. You can visit the castle, but also join walking and cycling tours through their domain of more than 300 hectares. The blossom season in spring is the best time to explore the region and enjoy the beautiful landscapes. Wine lovers can visit the vineyards of ‘Gloire de Duras’ during their tour of the fields.
